In the first weeks of school my fifth graders learned about solutions and mixtures. Chem4kids does a nice summary of the topic and there is a quiz.

This is a link to a document which includes the California State Science Standards and a sample test. This gives parents an opportunity to see an overview of what is expected of their children and how their children will be evaluated.
